Awareness Camps
Awareness about the legal system is a prerequisite to increasing discourse around its working and is a prerequisite to people using the law as a catalyst to improve their own circumstances. That is why we've begun conducting legal awareness workshops for students from low-income/marginalized backgrounds in collaboration with NGOs as well as government schools like Prayas: the Neighbourhood Project, Vijay Social Welfare Society, and We for You Society within Indore and have currently reached over 300 kids.
The curriculum of these workshops is carefully crafted, in consultation with legal experts. These workshops cover rights that kids are guaranteed, specifically focusing on rights that guarantee educational access as well as rights that ensure their safety. Students are also taught about legislative provisions like government welfare or scholarship schemes they can access to gain benefits for themselves and their family members as well as are connected to ways in which they can access affordable legal aid, through state legal aid authorities and university clinics. Finally, we cover law as a career within these workshops, an overview of the Indian legal system, and ways in which one can practice law in the country. These are structured to be interactive to ensure that students are able to gain meaningful information from the session.

We're always looking to expand and democratize access to information about legal systems and would love to collaborate to organize more of these workshops.
